Summary:
Season two of the Emmy® Award-nominated ROUGH CUT returns to the workshop of fine furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of Boston's famed North Bennet Street School. Once again, Tommy instructs and inspires aspiring woodworkers and master crafters alike, sharing his experience, his secrets, and his enthusiasm, inviting everyone with an interest in woodworking to acquire the basic skills and the tools to go beyond.

In Sand-Shaded Clock, Tommy explores a technique that dates back to the ancient Egyptians. But sand-shading was also a technique that was heavily used in the Federalist period, so Tommy pays a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York where they have some beautiful examples of sand-shading made by John and Thomas Seymour. Then Tommy takes the art of sand-shading to a whole new level when he designs a sand-shaded clock. Back in the shop, St. Louis radio personality McGraw Milhaven stops by for a visit.

Featured in Forbes Magazine, Fine Woodworking Magazine, and The Boston Globe, Tommy's work has been displayed at the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and at the Concord Museum.

Special feature includes detailed printed project plans.
