Summary:
The Cherokee established farming villages in their homeland in and around the southern Appalachian Mountains. The "Principal People," as they called themselves, expertly cultivated corn and stalked wild game. Their hunting skills caught the attention of British traders, who erected outposts in Cherokee territory, paving the way for colonial settlers. Throughout the 18th century, the Cherokee fought to keep whites at bay, but in the end, the newcomers prevailed. Today, approximately 72,000 Cherokee live in Oklahoma, and nearly 8,000 Eastern Band Cherokee live on ancestral Cherokee land. Part of the multivolume Indians of North America Video Collection, each featuring the compelling history and culture of a particular Native American tribe.

Only available in the US.
