Young learners practice expressing what is and what is not their favorite sport, such as "Baseball is not my favorite sport" and "My favorite sport is basketball." The phrase "I don't know" and the verb "to like" are reviewed, while the letter "U" and the number "19" are introduced. Includes Zoe presenting "near" and "far."

Tingo at the Bat

Children learn to ask "Are you ready?" as Niki tries to teach Tingo how to swing a baseball bat in this fun program! Other common phrases reviewed include "Excuse me," "I'm not ready!" and "I'm ready!" Young learners practice using the phrase "have to" in constructing sentences such as, "You have to hold your arms like this." Includes Herry and friend presenting the letter "H."

Created by Sesame Workshop, these programs are designed to teach English as a Second Language. Tingo, an energetic Muppet, who only recently arrived in this country, introduces conversational English through adventures with his friend, Niki, a typical teenage girl. The program features two 13-minute segments and follows a simple storyline that uses humor, physical action and music to appeal to children while introducing basic English expressions, vocabulary and sentence structures. The program also includes classic Sesame Street Muppets, animation and live-action segments. Tingo speaks in English as well as the native language to clarify and reinforce storylines and language concepts.

The bilingual instruction is offered in five languages -- Spanish, Hmong, Korean, Mandarin Chinese and Vietnamese, plus an English-only track suitable for all ESL students. Part of the multivolume Sesame English: ESL for Children DVD Series. A Teacher's Guide is included and available online.

Only available in the US.
