Summary:
Episode focues on mutliple ways to solve linear equations. These methods include graphing, substituiion, and elimination of variable by using addition or substraction with multipliation.

Mathematial Overview of episode. The program begins with the X-team encountering a situation in which they must solve a non-routine word problem that involves a system of equations. They use graphing to show that if the system of equations has one solution, it will be at the intersection point of the two lines representing each of the equations. In the next system of equations they are challenged with, they cannot graph. By being forced to think about how to solve a system of equations in another way, they realize that substitution is a viable method. Finally, the last systems of equations that must be solved present an interesting scenario. The X-team members realize that there is a relationship between the two equations and add or subtract the equations to produce much simpler equations. These simpler equations lead to finding the solution of the system of equations using a number-sense approach
