Summary:
Using a fast-paced MTV documentary style, this program explores the skyrocketing use of the psychedelic drug known as ecstasy. Viewers learn that while ecstasy (also known as MDMA) has been around for a while, it's recent rise began to be noticed at all-night teenage dance parties called raves. However, due to the success of highly organized drug traffickers the drug, packaged as tablets has been widely available to middle school and high school students nationwide. Viewers will learn that ecstasy can promote euphoria and cause light hallucinations as well as suppress the need to eat and sleep. It also causes accelerated heartbeat, high blood pressure, fainting, muscle cramps and panic attacks. Experts also point out to viewers that ecstasy is psychologically addictive and can cause paranoia and psychosis. Program also reveals the troubling new danger of a look-alike drug, MDA. It has caused several recent deaths because users incorrectly thought they were taking ecstasy. After viewing this DVD students will understand that ecstasy is a dangerous drug to be avoided at all costs.
